During the last school year the Climate and Culture Committee placed 3 different coloured garbage bins in 4 locations around the school. Students were invited to an assembly and encouraged to be more environmentally conscious by separating their garbage and placing it in the appropriate bin. This concept was reinforced by class teachers and also in drama lessons.
Now that the school year has begun we feel it necessary to reinforce, once again, the need to keep the school tidy and place garbage in the correct bins. We need help from all teachers to get this message across.
We would like to invite every class in the school to participate in a “Keep our school clean” poster competition. The winners will be given permission to go on a field trip this term, as well as receive $200.00 to be used by the class teacher for class supplies books etc.
The competition will be divided into 3 levels, Preps, Juniors and Seniors. A winner will be chosen from each level. The poster should be a visual aid to communicate the following message:
DO NOT LITTER
PLASTIC IN THE YELLOW BIN’
CANS IN THE GREEN BIN
ALL OTHER GARBAGE IN THE BLUE BIN
These are not the exact words to be used. This is the message, you can communicate the message in any creative way you like!
The poster can be created from any medium, and may be any size. A rhyme or jingle could be used to communicate the message. The class is responsible for securing the poster in a visible location in the school, therefore size will be dictated by the location the class has selected for the poster. To avoid confusion, class teachers should reserve their location on the paper provided.
We hope you enjoyed participating in the competition and more importantly we hope the children will remember the message they are presenting.
Thank you!
